Roland, Stockyards Insurance Agency Inc.'s founder, started his career fresh out of serving our country in the Korean War in 1953 when he went to work for the Home Insurance Company in the Chicago Union Stockyards insuring motor carrier's needs in the livestock industry. In 1964, after years of building the business of Home Insurance livestock insurance office in Chicago, he decided to go out on his own and created the independent insurance agency, Stockyards Insurance Agency Inc.

From 1964 until 1984 he maintained a physical presence at both the Chicago Stockyards & then the Chicago-Joliet Stockyards, when in 1984 realizing the demise of the stockyards in a metropolitan area built the office building that Stockyards Insurance Agency Inc. now calls home.

In 1986, Roland started to take a more managerial role in operating the business with the addition of his son John to the operation and continued to grow the operation to its present size.

Today, Roland has drawn back from the traveling that marked the first 40 years of his business life and is enjoying the fruits of his hard work over the last 65 years. He is especially proud of the relationships that have been formed by himself and the employees of Stockyards Insurance the last 54 years.

John began his professional career in the banking industry advancing to assistant loan officers at a local community bank. In 1985 a mutual decision was made that brought him to work for his father and Stockyards Insurance Agency Inc. when in 1986 he became fully licensed to produce insurance contracts.

John continued in Roland's footsteps with traveling and visiting existing & new customers - which has been the staple for the agency - and successfully meeting the insurance needs of the motor carriers, especially the smaller companies that some businesses have ignored.

Since 1986 John has achieved the CIC designation and has sat on agent advisory boards for some of the insurance companies that the agency represents and has continually increased his knowledge of insurance contracts and how they relate to the motor carrier industry.

As Roland has continued to increase his life enjoyments John is increasing his duties in running the day to day operations of the agency while also increasing his outside activities by joining different boards of directors lending his experience to those operations as well.

John looks forward to serving our new & existing customers in meeting their motor carrier insurance needs.

Matt started his professional career in the commodities business working at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange for 4 years, in 1988 after the financial crisis that hit he decided that a bit more stable industry would best fit his skills so in May of 1988 he joined Stockyards Insurance Agency Inc. as a licensed agent.

Matt has achieved success for 30 years and counting and looks forward to continuing his relationship with the agency, the companies we represent and to our clients.

Tony came to Stockyards Insurance Agency Inc. from an industrial background of silvering mirrors for various jobs. In 2002 Tony joined the agency and has continued to build his knowledge in the insurance industry concentrating in motor carrier insurance needs.

Tony enjoys providing great customer service and feels his helped guide many of our clients in protecting their assets & dreams. In his off time he enjoys traveling with this wife and watching his children succeed in their own lives.
